Starane® NXT Herbicide Receives Premix Label for Use in Small Grains
Indianapolis, IN - November 15, 2006
Dow AgroSciences announces that it has received EPA registration for Starane® NXT herbicide for broadleaf weed control in small grains.
A premix of the proven active ingredients fluroxypyr and bromoxynil, Starane NXT offers small grains producers complete rotational flexibility.
"Starane NXT will have a broader appeal in the Pacific Northwest where potatoes, lentils and field peas are abundant," says Jim Parker, senior marketing specialist for Dow AgroSciences. "In the Northern Plains, WideMatch® herbicide will continue to be the leading choice among growers because of the broad spectrum of weeds it controls, but there will be crop rotational situations where Starane NXT will be preferred."
Parker adds that many small grains growers are familiar with the performance of Starane NXT through tank-mix applications of Starane® herbicide and bromoxynil herbicides. However, the premix formulation of Starane NXT offers more convenience.
Starane NXT provides control of annual broadleaf weeds like kochia, wild buckwheat, sunflower and Russian thistle. Control of wild mustard, pigweed or lambsquarters is enhanced with economical rates of MCPA, 2,4-D or Harmony GT herbicide.
Starane NXT offers excellent resistance management for control of kochia since it contains active ingredients that have two completely different modes of action against this most serious broadleaf weed problem in small grains. Starane NXT is also tank-mix compatible with all leading grass herbicides, including Puma, Discover, Everest, Silverado, Axial, Rimfire and Achieve herbicide.
